Memorial Day marks the start of summer. White pants and shoes come out from hiding in the back of the closet and those big coats get stored. Who am I kidding? I live in California… what big coats?! Hehe. Though the weather doesn’t change much here, it’s still exciting to pick out those summer items and find a new Memorial Day outfit. Am I right?
For us, the weather is lookin’ mighty fine- in the 70’s with a bit of cloud cover. We’ll likely be hitting up a BBQ, bike riding and if it’s warm enough, beachin’. What are your plans? Whether your chillin’, workin’ or in my case, a little of both I’ve picked out a few fail-proof Memorial Day looks.
Most of these pieces are things I have worn a handful of times or styled with so it’s their turn to go to a new home. I’ll be adding links to where the items can be found, either on my Depop or Etsy account or the brand’s website it it is a new item.
Navy blue, stripes and an all- American look define my idea of a go-to Memorial Day look. I rarely mix patterns, but this one came together so easily and kept me comfy all day. I’d choose this look for celebrating the long weekend at brunch with the babes by the beach. The skirt keeps it breezy, the 3/4 sleeves cover sun exposure and keep ya warm if it’s a touch chilly. I threw on the heels to elevate the look from teacher-chic to a slightly sexier silhouette and because they were just a ridiculous match. If I’m not shooting or running around a studio all day, I try to pop on heels as often as possible.
The classic Ray Ban aviators and vintage gold jewelry keep the look simple and soft and just a touch classic. It’s an American holiday, which is one of the few times I tend to go preppy. Somethin’ about Americana makes me think GAP.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a breezy, comfortable lightweight dress. This dress feels like you have next to nothing on, which is perfect for the humidity and sunshine all summer long. I just found this baby at MAKE Collectives and it has quickly become my favorite dress. The off-the-shoulder detail, sweet plaid print and simple shape of this dress makes me squeal. I received 4 compliments just shooting this dress and am so excited to wear it this coming weekend. If you are in Long Beach, hustle over to 1st street to grab this summer staple. It’s likely to move fast! And for the rest of ya’ll, it’ll be online tonight!
I’m just getting used to this people taking pictures of me thing, so I find it helps to dance it out!
When the sun hits just right, beams of light filter through the hat, giving you lil freckles. It’s one of my best vintage finds and can be yours 🙂
These earrings were made from vintage rosaries. And no one told me my lipstick rubbed off after brekkie. grrrr.

Jumpsuits. Quite possibly my favorite garment created. There’s something about pulling on a piece and calling it a damn day, right? This one from MAKE Collectives is a nice simple navy palate with no print- woohoo!- and an enticing back detail. The cotton-linen blend, open back and cropped hem makes this the perfect summer jumper.
I paired this rad, simple basic with a vintage Playboy scarf my badass neighbor picked up for me in Thailand, belted the waist with a simple leather belt and threw on sky high platforms. They are more comfortable than they look! My hair was kinda fluffy, but just right from the night before, so I went with it. It felt pretty foxy. I recently said I’d choke the next person I saw with a bandana around her neck, but I like the slight stewardess feel rather than Coachella vibes this patriotic handkerchief added. So, whatever. Choke me. The straw clutch brought all the summer feels and that’s exactly what I needed to make this look work for a friend’s BBQ.
Good hair and gold jewelry <3
If you value your car, don’t park it in front of my house.
